My pal Goldie and I have a wonderful time finding things that are beautiful and enjoyable in the Ashland area. We will show you some of them. In addition, I will take advantage of my website to do some personal and family things. For example, my sister Carolyn and I planned the first ever family reunion for the Spears family, my father's family. She visited me in late June, 2010 and we held it then, here in Ohio, so there will be a link from this site that will be for family. Of course it is open to anyone, but I doubt if you will be interested if you don't carry the "Spears gene." |
![]() We have snow in Ashland. This winter it seems as though we were getting more than our share. Snow is gone at last, and the spring flowers are putting in an appearance. |
Ashland's Kroc Center is one of only two such places so far in Ohio. There
is a fairly small sign marking the entrance to the Kroc Center on East
Liberty Street.Ashland is blessed to have one of the first Kroc Centers ever built. We heard a story in Ashland about the beginning of the Kroc Center. In a west coast city, a lady, dressed as if she didn't have much in the way of money, entered the local Salvation Army. She was treated well as everyone is at the Salvation Army. I didn't hear how many times she returned, but she became familiar enough with the operations of the place to make the decision she was there for. She was Joan Kroc, widow of Ray Kroc, owner of the MacDonalds restaurants. Her objective was to find a group to which the task of building and running Kroc Centers across the country could be entrusted. She made her choice and the Kroc Centers became a reality. |

A Young Peoples Concert by the Ashland Symphony Orchestra.
This picture was from last year. This year we tried something
completely new. Instead of asking the children to dress for a
theme (in this case the Wizzard of Oz) we had a make your own instrument
activity and an instrument petting zoo. |
